  XtremeSystems Forums - 4200 Vmod + aircooling
And a 80 watt pelt on my core + aircooling.
When I speak of aircooling, I mean something like a alpa pall or something in this category...
Just make sure your memory is not running hot as I've heard of many folks having some very hot-running memory...whereas mine ran very cool both stock and overclocked.

Aircooling, Air, CPU, Processor, TheBestLinks.com:Find or fix a stub...
Aircooling (also: Air Cooling) is one attempt to remove heat from components.
Also, it's said that the future new processors would be generating too much heat to be dissipated through air, and so that aircooling is becoming obsolete.

Welcome to my aircooling theory and analysis page.
Here you will find the knowledge needed to understand the basics of how PC aircooling works.
This section contains a brief intro to basic aerodynamic principles fans and heat sinks are governed by, as well as an analysis of data from experiments I carried out on a Delta 92mm, a Radio Shack 80mm, and a Sunon 40mm fan.

TeLC - product group airconditioning - print
For profund training in air-conditioning it is necessary to understand the processes aircooling and airheating.
Aircooling is a precondition for dehumidifying and airheating a precondition for humidifying.
These physical facts base on the effect that air absorbs the more water the higher its temperature is. Exceeding the limits effects condensate or rain.

 Cooling faQ - GIDForums
Aircooling involves mounting a heatsink on top of your cpu.
A heatsink is a specially shaped piece of metal, with a base and fins, manufactured normally using either aluminium or copper, or an aluminium/copper combination.
Aircooling has been engineered to perhaps its optimum performance, so there probably wont be any other spectacular heatsinks coming out.

water cooling - PC-Media Tech Forums
hehe...yeah, i might stick with aircooling, but i'd have to spend a bit replacing some fans and i'd probably go with a new cpu heatsink...but i'd like to know a few things about water cooling before deciding one way or the other...
If you are not, I would definitely agree with Tin Canary and say that aircooling is the most effective solution in terms of price/performance ratio.
Other cooling solutions have always been a novelty, but until they can match aircooling in terms of ease of use and price, they won't be adoptable as a mainstream solution.

Overclockers NZ Forums - Cooling FAQ
Passive aircooling is the use of a heatsink to radiate heat from a silicon chip to the air.
The use of the fan on the heatsink in Active Aircooling is what defines the difference between Passive and Active aircooling.
A pump keeps the water flowing through the system, a radiator transfers the heat to air thus making the water cold again, and a waterblock is mounted atop your cpu for the water to pickup the cpu's heat as it passes by.

SPCR :: View topic - Watercooling obsolete?
Just look at the Res1: it boasts cooling power on par with the best aircooling, yet its quieter than any fanned cooler could ever be.
Aircooling is getting really close to the limits of what it can do (quietly at least)...you really can't get much bigger/heavier than they are now.
You may say that the quietest rig is one with a thouroughly damped pump and totally passive rads and you would probably be right.

10-September-03 12:06 AM I too am a fan of aircooling, water is kinda risky (and somewhat expensive!), seen a few too may "oops" things happen with it.

Short-Media Forums - A good case for waterchill
I thought it would be a good idea to go down the aircooled route, (for cheapness), but found that with all the quietest gear I could find, plus using sound dampening, I acheved a good result....
Off course, it's better than the average aircooling but not that much better than high end aircooling.
Another thing to consider is that you dont have to worry about that the fan might break on the north or anything.

bit-tech.net Forums - Overclocking and voltage increases???   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
A much better approch is to increse it in steps of say 0.05 or 0.1v and see what effect it has on your temps and overclock as you go along.
I assume your running an Athlon xp In which case you dont relly want to take it much higher than 2v at any time but you would probably find with aircooling you would struggle to get it to 1.85v without getting a large temp increse.
Make sure you keep an eye on temps and remember the higher voltage you go to the cooler you need to keep it to be safe.

All im saying is try aircooling first and see how it goes.
Also get a big case, cause small ones are crap (CM201 nightmares still haunt me) but that isnt saying it cant be done, its just not as easy for a n00b (which i was at the time).

While aircooling is indeed a "zonal system" its equipment can be modeled either as zonal (one aircooling unit attached to each zone under this system) or as central (one, bigger, aircooling unit attached to PLANT, which would be in lieu of all the individual units).
Regarding fans: If the aircooling unit is attached to PLANT (central equipment) then the supply cfm assumed is given by a FAN attached to SYSTEM and its schedule(s).
In other words, this cfm should be set to the value for which the unit performance is specified in spec sheets, which may or may not equal the cfm of the supply fan attached to SYSTEM.

Considering I'm only using aircooling, I don't expect that I'll be pushing the FSB to the max.
I suppose it would be advantageous to use the latest and greatest RAM because I could always use a higher FSB/DDR multiplier to push the RAM to the limits.

Short-Media Forums - What is cooling?
This is what watercooling does for your poor overworked CPU and (possibly) GPU on a daily basis.
Yes there are good aircooling solutions out there but to get the amount of cooling afforded by a competent watercooling setup an aircooling setup has to be ungodly loud (c'mon, someone argue this point) meanwhile if done properly the watercooling setup will be no louder than a middling aircooled rig.
In a watercooled rig the heat is removed from the core components by fluid passing through waterblocks mounted to them, the heat is absorbed by the fluid and carried away via the tidal action afforded by the pump.

 Virtual-Hideout.Net | Reviews | Evercool WC201 Watercooling Kit Review
Today, more and more users are switching over to watercooling for the superior cooling and the noise advantage it has over conventional aircooling.
Some of the kits available are targeted squarely at the beginners/novice like me so they can easily make the transition from the standard aircooling to the more extreme watercooling.
Wanting to make that transition myself, I started out with a fairly basic kit and that brings us to the WC201 Kit from Evercool Taiwan.

 Aircooling a TEC -- A Balancing Act
As the title implies, you have to think first, do later when it comes to air-cooled TECs.
There's not a lot of room for error in getting a Peltier element powerful enough to cool the CPU without generating more heat than any reasonably compact aircooled heatsink can handle.
The CPU heat load can't be too large for the TEC and the TEC can't be too large for the heatsink.

CoolTechZone Forums - Column: The Future of Air-Cooling
Take the famous Black Ice Pro for example, most common version is the 2x120fan radiator, even with 2 quiet fans at 1000rpm it will produce noise.
Dust is every overclockers worst nightmare, that's another downside of aircooling: you need good airflow inside your case, with a front (+side) intake fan sooner or later you'll get dust inside.
Without cool air coming in, and an outtake blowing hot air out your expensive XP120 is virtually useless.

Alliance Of Overclocking Arts - Odds of a 1Ghz Duron runnins 1.33Ghz with air cooling?
Duron 1GHz and 1.1GHz which have the stepping code of AHHAA are good for about 1.25GHz at 1.85V with aircooling, and max out at about 1.32GHz with voltage mods and extreme aircooling.
Duron 1.2GHz and 1.3GHz which have the stepping code of AHLCA are good for about 1.4GHz at 1.85V with aircooling, and max out at about 1.475 with voltage mods(over-current protection must be adjusted on 8KHA+) and extreme aircooling.
There may be some Duron 1GHz and/or 1.1GHz floating around in the newer AHLCA stepping, in which case you would see a very nice overclock, and excelent bang for buck.
