Airdrie United Football Club are a Scottish association football team currently playing in the Scottish Football League First Division.
Airdrie United play their home fixtures at New Broomfield as the fans call the stadium, but officially known as Excelsior Stadium.
Airdrie United reached the final of the Bells Challenge Cup in 2003-04 and lost to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, but consolation came in the form of the Division Two championship and promotion to the Scottish Football League 1st Division, a game which was watched by over 5,000 fans at New Broomfield.

Airdrie United's main aim this season is to consolidate and they are doing that just and no more by sitting in 8th place in the most competitive league in Scotland.
Airdrie has a few negative stories throughout its financial history, But I believe it is a very strong club and we are going places.

Airdrie have already played St. Mirren this season at Love street and we were the team to end there 100% home record as Mark Roberts came on as substitute and scored a diving header in the last minute to salvage the Diamonds a point!
Airdrie have the home advantage, But not having the best attendances lately we are hoping that a few more people turn out to see what always prooves to be a very intresting and spicey meeting with the two division one rivals.

A very one sided affair saw Airdrie United knock Clyde of the top of the league and again take full points from this fixture.
Airdrie United scored their next goal through a solo effort from Bartletts man of the match Alan Gow, a run from inside the Clyde half which he hammered low to the left hand side and put Airdrie in the comfort zone with 15 minutes to go.
Airdrie were pushed back then but never really looked like the lead would be lost.

However, everyone calmed down and it was Airdrie who had the last chance of the game when again Gow was clean through only for Arthur to race from his line and smother the effort.
And Airdrie will be delighted to have kept their distance from Thistle at the bottom end of the league.

THE backers of the new Airdrie United club hoping to replace Airdrieonians in the Scottish Football League have lodged a £20,000 bond in the bank as proof that they intend to pay off the "football debt" of their predecessors.
Tony Higgins, secretary of the Scottish Professional Footballers Association, confirmed last night that Jim Ballantyne of Airdrie United had written a cheque for £20,000 as a down-payment for debts owed within the game, as opposed to Airdrieonians’ other debts, such as tax and bank loans.
Scotland on Sunday has learned that Airdrie United have the solid backing of at least seven of the 27 full member SFL clubs - halfway to the target of 14 which they need to gain election to the league.
