Airline timetable - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Airline timetables are booklets that many airlines worldwide use to inform passengers of several different things, such as schedules, fleet, security, in-flight entertainment, food menu, restriction and phone contact information.
Airline timetables used to be mainly produced as small, paperback books that would be handled to passengers inside airplanes, at ticket agencies and airport counters, or upon request by phone or mail.
Airline timetable books are famous for their diversity: Many had colorful covers, such as the ones produced by many Latin American airlines.

Airline - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Airlines lease or own their aircraft with which to supply these services and may form partnerships or alliances with other airlines for reasons of mutual benefit.
Airline services can be categorized as being intercontinental, intracontinental, regional or domestic and may be operated as scheduled services or charters.
The airline industry as a whole has made a cumulative loss during its 120-year history, once subsidies for aircraft development and airport construction are included in the cost [1].

 IATA - Scheduling Standards
Airline schedules data (timetable information) is distributed throughout the airline industry to a growing number of recipients such as airline reservations systems, timetable agencies, airline partnerships, traffic handling agencies, airport coordinators, air traffic control authorities and Government departments.
Airline schedules data is initially associated with airline reservations and ticketing systems and subsequently with the exchange of other data required for timetable planning and production, and for airline operational purposes.
The airlines considered it essential that compatible timetable systems needed to be developed to ensure that airline timetable information was exchanged on a cost-effective basis within the airline industry.

Many collectors have been in the airline industry (either currently or in the past) or had close friends or relatives in the industry, while others (like myself), became interested simply by wondering where all of these airplanes were coming from and going to.
Additionally, some want every timetable issued for a given period of time (which may be from Day One to the present), others only want one per year (or even every few years), and still others want merely a single issue for any given airline.
Also, on “double-fold” timetables (older timetables that were stapled in the middle, folded, then folded again), do not reverse the fold in an effort to make the timetable lay flat, as this will cause stress tears in the paper at the fold.

Airline Ticket Consolidators and Bucket Shops FAQ   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Asking an airline how much they want you to pay for a ticket is like asking the IRS how much tax they want you to pay: they'll give you an answer, but there's no reason to expect it to be the one that's in *your* best interest.
USA airlines' invocations of "open markets", "free trade", and "open skies" can be dismissed as completely hypocritical and self-serving drivel until such time as they exercise their right to withdraw from IATA, as any of them could at any time.
Even some airlines that have only one coach booking class require reservations for special fares to be made only by agents either directly with the airline, through designated consolidators, or in special booking classes which are not listed in the OAG and whose existence the airlines won't even admit to retail callers.

Rule 240 (which is a good phrase to use when you're speaking to airline employees) refers to the carrier's policies for handling delays, diversions and cancellations.
If the delay is caused by the airline — say, due to crew problems or aircraft maintenance — then the provisions in the Contract of Carriage differ and the airline's responsibility increases.

For instance, the BA pdf timetable is the absolute minimum pdf document, not even the cities are indexed in the left hand tabs.

You can be charged for using an airline's name without permission, using their official logos and images and most importantly damage to their overall reputation and image.
It's as real as it can get; after all, you are following the real airline's timetable instead of some fictional and incorrect timetable made up by some 11 year old just for the sake of making one for his VA to represent his region or country.

For a few years the three airlines' flight schedules were integrated but during the late 70s Shawnee pretty much continued operations as a seperate entity.
Shawnee was facing stiff competition from the larger Mackey International Airlines on the Bahamas routes and an increasing number of major carriers were flying directly to Nassau and Freeport, bypassing the need for connecting flights from Florida.
In the conservative atmosphere of today's generic airline world, an independent carrier like Shawnee flying classic propliners painted in tropical pastels and neon pinks would truly be a bizarre anachronism.

American Airlines, for example, uses O'Hare as a hub and schedules a cluster of flights to arrive there from the east in the earlier afternoon.
To figure out when that is, you can download the airline's timetable from its Web site to check when flights to other cities are scheduled to leave.
You could also fly on an airline that doesn't use O'Hare as a hub or on a low-cost carrier, both of which tend to avoid the crowded periods.
