The Silver Line is the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority 's (MBTA's) sole Bus Rapid Transit line, running in two, unconnected sections, from Dudley Square in Roxbury to downtown Boston, Massachusetts and from South Station to several points in South Boston and to Logan Airport in East Boston.
There are free shuttle buses connecting the terminals and other airport destinations, including the Airport station on the Blue Line, hotels, rental cars and the water taxi.
The agreement with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection called for airport service by January, but the MBTA didn't yet have enough buses for full service.

The MBTA took the first steps yesterday to extend the Green Line from Lechmere to West Medford, a $375 million expansion of the transit system that the state promised as a condition for undertaking the Big Dig.
Instead, T planners have proposed connecting the bus service from Dudley Square to another line, expected to open later this year, that goes from South Station through the South Boston Waterfront and ultimately to Logan Airport.

SAN FRANCISCO -- URS Corporation (URS) said that, through a joint venture formed with DMJM+Harris, it has been awarded a contract by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) to provide design and planning services for the final phase of the MBTA's Silver Line project, according to this release issued by URS.
The final phase of the project (Phase III) includes the development of an underground BRT connection between Boston's South Station and the New England Medical Center.
When it is completed, the Silver Line will connect the Boston neighborhoods of Roxbury, The South End and Chinatown to the city's commercial center and South Boston Waterfront District, as well as to Logan Airport.
