He commended his town's men and women, who, he said, "inspite of the assault of religion and foreign culture on traditions, have remained committed to upholding what is theirs." "I really commend them because it is not easy to profess the tradition of your people in today's world of rampant religious hypocrisy," Kayode stressed.
He said Akoko land as a whole deserves commendation for upholding the new yam tradition even in contemporary times.

Ikakumo-Aworonke is a town in Akoko North-East, Local Government Council, Ondo State, Nigeria.
Ikakumo-Aworonke is related to such towns as Ayanran, Ikakumo-Olayele, in the present Akoko-Edo Local Government Council, Edo State, Auga and Ise in Akoko North-East, Local Government, Ondo State.
All these five towns are said to have migrated from Ile-Ife through Benin-City to Ayanran hill (former Kukuruku hills) and they later migrated to their various settlements as we now find them today.
