The leader of Aktion Reinhard was SS- Brigadeführer Odilo Globocnik, the SS and Police Leader for the Lublin district, who was appointed to this role by Heinrich Himmler, the Reichsführer-SS.
Aktion Reinhard, one of the most murderous programmes in history, was staffed by a relatively small number of people in comparison to the number of victims.

 Operation Reinhard (Einsatz Reinhard)
The RSHA was the agency responsible for coordinating the deportation of European Jews to killing centers in German-occupied Poland.
The Operation Reinhard killing centers were managed by small detachments of German SS and Police and guarded by detachments of police auxiliaries trained at the Trawniki training camp.
Property belonging to the victims of the Operation Reinhard camps was stored in depots in Lublin city, at the Lublin-Majdanek concentration camp, and at the forced-labor camps Trawniki and Poniatowa.

In addition, considerable effort was expended over the course of the Holocaust to find increasingly efficient means of killing more people; for example, by switching from carbon monoxide poisoning in the Aktion Reinhard death camps of Belzec, Sobibór, and Treblinka to the use of Zyklon B at Majdanek and Auschwitz.
The bodies of those killed were destroyed in crematoria (except at Sobibór where they were cremated on outdoor pyres), and the ashes buried or scattered.
