Mitchell was an enormously popular singer in the USA and especially the UK, particularly during the 50s, with a straightforward style, rich voice and affable personality.
In 1950, he was signed to Columbia Records by Mitch Miller, who is said to have been responsible for changing Cernick to Mitchell, Miller's full given name.
Their first success came in 1950, with "My Heart Cries For You" and "The Roving Kind", which were followed by a string of hits throughout the decade, mostly jaunty novelty numbers, usually with Miller arrangements that used French horns to considerable effect.

By 1952, Sinatra was gone from the label, dropped by Miller, but Columbia was the top pop label in the world.
In 1951, when Sinatra was unwilling to record songs that he selected, Miller tapped a young singer, Al Cernick, whom Miller had signed and renamed Guy Mitchell, who cut the two disputed number, "My Heart Cries For You" and "The Roving Kind," which rode the charts for months and sold more than two million copies.
Doris Day was already on Columbia when Miller arrived as head of A&R, but it was during the era in which he ran the label that she had her biggest pop hits.

A copy of DECCA 24410 was found in Guy's collection after he died.
This re-labelling was presumably done in 1951 after Guy's initial success on Columbia, with DECCA being wary of using the 'Guy Mitchell' name for this early recording.
The songs obviously come from his pre-Guy Mitchell days, and like KING 15125 above, were issued to cash in on his early Columbia hits.

She has studied with many notable teachers such as, Raqia Hassan, Suzanna Del Vecchio, Elena Latini, Eva Cernick, Dalia Carella, Morocco, and the list goes on however, the majority of Her training came from Kathryn Ferguson (Miss Ferguson still remains her favorite performer and teacher).
Not only did Kathryn train Ashtalea to be a performer but trained her to be a teacher too.
