Al Dexter [+] earned a spot in the popular music canon when he wrote "Pistol Packin' Mama" in 1942.
In February 1946, Dexter's "Guitar Polka" spent almost four months at number one; it was his biggest country hit and managed the Top 20 on the pop charts (also producing the number two B-side "Honey Do You Think It's Wrong").
Dexter was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1971.

Al Dexter and his Troopers were still represented on the charts in 1947, when Kokomono Island and Down At The Roadside Inn both went Top 5.
Al received a Citation of Achievement for Pistol Packin’ Mama in 1943/1944 and the Western Motion Picture Association Award in 1943.
In the period 1940-1943, Al and the Troopers were heard on radio KFRO Longview, Texas and during 1940-1952, they appeared at theaters, nightclubs, fairs and rodeos.

Clarence Albert Poindexter, country and western singer known as Al Dexter, was born in Jacksonville, Texas, in 1902.
Dexter's "Honky Tonk Blues," which he wrote with his writing partner James B.
Through his experiences there and in other roadhouses, Dexter developed the idea for his future hit, "Pistol Packin' Mama." Art Satherley, Dexter's producer, helped him by arranging a recording session with Gene Autry's backup band, for which Dexter had expressed admiration.

#AA6336) is in excellent condition and comes with a letter from Dexter's son, a letter from a Navy officer whose ship was nicknamed "Pistol Packin' Mama," and two promotional photos of Dexter with this guitar.

Grease comes in through a central port to the rear of the hub and is forced back out through both bearings to a visual inspection area so you can see that grease has been delivered through both bearings.
Have the dexters on my car hauler they work OK, I over greased one hub and blew out the seal.
One thing about the Dexters and from what I can tell about the AL-KO is keep a couple spare rubber caps as the hub heats up they will spit the cap now and again.

Bob Wills' imprint was all over this jaunty hit by fellow Texan Clarence Albert Poindexter-aka Al Dexter.
As for subject matter, well, that was a different story, filled with drinking, cursing, and much "hell hath no fury as a woman scorned" violence directed towards its speaking-from-the-grave narrator.
That Dexter sang it in such a mellow fashion only made the song that much more intriguing-enough that another noted "relaxed" singer, Bing Crosby, turned it into a wartime pop hit.
