Al Minya (Arabic: محافظة المنيا) is one of the governorates of Upper Egypt.
Al Minya lies on the western bank of the Nile, in the centre of the country almost midway between Cairo and Luxor.
Al Minya Governarate signed a partnership with the twin city Hildes Heimin in (West) Germany on July 18, 1979.

 Al Iskandariyah New Airfield
The Al Iskandariyah (Alexandria) airfield was said by some sources to be one of eight major operating bases for the Iraqi Air Force at the time of the 1991 Gulf War.
The town of Al Iskandariyah is north of Camp Dogwood.
On 19 June 2003 one 804th Medical Brigade soldier was killed and two injured during a rocket- propelled grenade assault on a military ambulance that occurred north of Camp Dogwood in the town of al Iskandariyah.

Iskandariyah [Alexandria] is located 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of Baghdad.
The city is home of the the al-Quds General Company for Mechanical Industries at which made medium-range missiles and bombs in the 1980s.
In February 2004 a crowd of angry Iraqis protested against the presence of U.S. troops in the southern, mainly Shi'a, town of Iskandariyah.

Kut [variants: Kut al Imara, Kut al `Amarah, Kut-al-Almarah, Kut-al-Imarah] is in southern Iraq, on the banks of the river Tigris.
Upon completion in early 1943 of a rail spur from Kut al Imara to Ba'quba, the Khanaqin Lift consisted of barge from Basra to Kut al Imara, rail from there to Khanaqin, and road to Tabriz.
The strikes were in response to illumination of coalition aircraft by targeting radar and a subsequent surface-to-air missile attack on coalition aircraft in the Southern no-fly-zone on 10 April, and in response to anti-aircraft-artillery fire on 11 April 1999.

Office for the Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq (UNOHCI) reported on April 3 that water treatment plants in Ar Ramadi and Al Fallujah in Al Anbar governorate, Al Iskandariyah and Al Mahmudiyah south of Baghdad, and Al Hillah in Babil governorate operate at 40-50 percent capacity due to power cuts.
ICRC assessments of Baghdad governorate indicate that populations in Ar Ramadi, Al Mahmudiyah, and Al Husseiniya lack potable water, due in part to disruptions in the power supply.
According to the HOC, residents who fled Umm Qasr for Al Basrah prior to the conflict are returning to Umm Qasr on foot or by civilian vehicles.

Iraqi school boys, who were just released from school for the day, hang around U.S. Soldiers of Delta Company 1st Battalion, 1155th Brigade Combat Team, during the Soldiers' dismounted patrol of the town March 9.
The purpose of the patrol was to find out how U.S. Forces can improve the community of Al Iskandariyah.
