Jubail (Arabic: "الجبيل" Al Jubayl), is a city in the Eastern province on the Persian Gulf coast of Saudi Arabia.
In 1975, along with Yanbu' al Bahr, it was designated as a new industrial city by the Saudi government, and has seen rapid expansion and industrialisation since.
The industrial city is a complex of petrochemical plants, an iron works and a number of smaller companies, plus a Royal Saudi Naval Base.

The interior minister said last month that he thought al Qaeda was involved in the Riyadh suicide bombings, in which nine assailants blew up vehicles at housing compounds for expatriates.

The Sheikh, belonging to Dhu Hussein tribe, a major tribe in Jawf, had a land dispute with al-Khudhiar that broke into a gun battle in which one man from Al-Khudhair was killed, which seems to be the cause of the of the Sheik’s assassination.
Last year, Sheikh Hassan Al-Iraqi, the general secretary of the local council in Jawf was shot in the head in Sana’a because of a tribal conflict and is still being treated in Sana’a.

This region was the largest contiguous area in Arabia, outside of the core Empty Quarter, that had not been visited by an ABBA Survey.
The people of al Jawf are as friendly as elsewhere in Yemen but the region is highly tribalised and lacks effective government institutions, so unfortunately, after a minor shooting incident, I had to curtail my plans for other squares in the region.
