Al Leach - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Allan F. Leach (born December 9, 1935 in Toronto, Ontario) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada.
Leach was elected to the provincial legislation in the 1995 Ontario election, narrowly defeating Liberal incumbent Tim Murphy and New Democrat Brent Hawkes in the downtown Toronto riding of St.
Leach was appointed as the Harris government's Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing on June 26, 1995, and held this position until the 1999 provincial election.

Leach was in fact placed on the machines as a part of the resuscitation efforts following her cardiac arrest, we presume that plaintiffs would consider such treatment proper since they do not question the propriety of the resuscitation efforts in their complaint.
Leach was first placed on life support systems on August 1, 1980, when she was in a chronic vegetative state, and that this treatment was performed without consent of Mrs.
Leach's true condition for a period of two months, failed to apprise the family of her course of treatments for that two-month period, and during the two-month  [***14]  period administered experimental drugs to Mrs.

Leach's own testimony does not differentiate between her complaints on the 13th and her subsequent complaints, except to explain that she could discern between the pain from her fractured back and the pain from her subsequent injury (the burn), which latter pain she described as like a hot poker in her back.
Leach testified that the nurse actually reached for a heat lamp which was in the cast room during the application of the second cast, and that this was the same lamp that was in the cast room when the first cast was applied.
Leach was such that a cast would always slip and rub on her, but he wrote this only after the injury was discovered rather than on the day when he removed the wrinkle in the cast.

Assuming that the liver and kidneys accounted for half of the absorbed cadmium in the body (as estimated by Friberg et al., 1974), the rats retained 1 percent of the ingested cadmium at the end of the first year and 0.6 to 0.9 percent at the end of the second year.

This is especially appropriate in view of Leach’s demonstration that the lake is essentially divided into two main regions: a northwestern region of rapid flushing rate of oligotrophic waters from Lake Huron, and a southeastern region that is a more stable, eutrophic water mass (Leach 1972; 1980).
Leach was among the first to recognize the significance of the unusual current structure of the lake and its implications for biological productivity (Leach 1972; 1980).
Leach’s data also correct the statement by Reighard (1894) that the plankton of Lake St. Clair was distributed uniformly.

George Smitherman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the 1999 provincial election, Smitherman was nominated as the Liberal Party candidate in Toronto Centre-Rosedale.
The Toronto municipal amalgamation of 1997 proved to be a major issue in the campaign -- the riding's previous MPP, Progressive Conservative (PC) Al Leach, had chosen not to run again, and former Toronto mayor John Sewell was running as an independent candidate in protest against the amalgamation legislation.
Sewell's entry into the race was controversial, with many activists accusing him of splitting the left wing vote with the New Democratic Party (NDP).

Xoo to cause disease on rice with certain R genes is associated with a large reduction in pathogenic fitness (aggressiveness and persistence) (Vera Cruz et al., 2000).

In future studies, Garrett (ecology/epidemiology) and Leach (molecular biology/pathology) at KSU and Vera Cruz (population biology/pathology) at the International Rice Research Institute (Philippines) will collaborate to study the molecular basis and ecological consequences of the mutations in avr genes that lead to this intriguing phenotype.

The subject under investigation in this paper is the social cognitive perception of racism
Cognitive psychologists such as Bruner (1956, as cited in Taylor, Fiske, Etcoff and Ruderman, 1978) have postulated that categorization is incorporated by the human brain as a function to reduce the complexity of the physical world to a simplistic, and consequently manageable environment.
The researchers (Perdue et al., 1990) suggest that these processors evolve at an early stage of life through classical conditioning, resulting in strong evaluative connotations associated with these words.
Synonymous to this is a model proposed by Devine (1989), which asserts that the likelihood of racial discrimination by an individual is directly determined in respect to the amount of personal belief that overlaps with the cultural stereotype of an out-group.

Some research indicates that in 2nd grade there is a shift in children's understanding of organisms from representations based on perceptual and behavioral features to representations in which central principles of biological theory are most important.
By middle school, students can group organisms hierarchically when asked to do so, whereas high-school students use hierarchical taxonomies without prompting (Leach, et al., 1992).
High-school and college students also mainly use obvious criteria (e.g., "movement," "growth") to distinguish between "living" and "nonliving" and rarely mention structural criteria ("cells") or biochemical characteristics ("DNA") (Brumby, 1982; Leach et al., 1992).

By perfecting the appeal the defendants (the plaintiffs in error here) invoked the jurisdiction of the county court and voluntarily appeared therein, and thereby waived any and all errors that may have been committed by the justice of the peace.
