Mental mayhem: Alarabiya.net's poor choice of photos
I blogged once about how the photo editor (or whoever) at Alarabiya had selected a picture of a Halloween party to illustrate an article discussing the activities of devil worshipers.
This time, Alarabiya.net is using a picture of two people hugging to illustrate an article discussing the banning of porn movies in a city in Florida.
Equating an image of people hugging with porn films is just another fine example of Alarabiya's poor photo picking problem.

 Azzaman in English
While 64.4% still watch Arabic (non-Iraqi) channels, the viewers have switched away from major television news outlets such as Aljazeera and Alarabiya.
The findings are a blow to the Qatar-based Aljazeera and the UAE-based Alarabiya whose viewing has slumped to 15.1% and 7% respectively, according to the study.
On the other hand, the Egyptian satellite channel where entertainment dominates programming attracts the largest number of Iraqi television viewers.

Needless to say, Alarabiya had already featured the news as the first item on its main page (yes, main page, not sports section): “Ghanaian players celebrate victory by raising the Israeli flag,” the headline screamed.
A glimpse at the comments section, and I knew Ghana’s reputation is now in tatters.
Reading the football commentaries in English, I couldn’t find anything that matches Alarabiya's excessive use of stereotypical metaphors to describe competing teams.

 Mental mayhem: Alarabiya's 'genius' reporting
It seems Alarabiya needs to hire a couple of fact-checkers.
If I was among those in the picture, I would sue Alarabiya, as it seems, at least according to their logic, anyone who wears a costume is a devil worshipper.

Jill's twin sister Katie appeared on Alarabiya today, appealing for Jill's release, as she highlighted Jill's importance to her, her family and really, to all of us who know and love Jill.
She reached out and thanked the Iraqi people and everyone that has shown her and her family such wonderful support throughout this terrible crisis.
