In Sahih, muslim recorded on the authority of Uqbah bin Amir (R.A.) that the messenger of Allah (saw) said, "Do you not see that there have been Ayat revealed to me tonight, the like of which has not been seen before?" They are Surah Al Falaq and Surah An-Nas." (Ahmad, Tirmidhi, An-Nasai)
Imam Malik recorded from Aisha (R.A.), that if the Prophet (saw) was suffering from an ailment and the pains were severe, she would recite these Surahs over him and take his hands and pass it over himself seeking the blessings of these two Surahs.
(Al Bukhari, Abu Daud, An-Nasai and ibn majah also recorded this hadith)

 Chapter 113: Al-Falaq (The Dawn)
The word falaq in the first verse of the chapter means cleaving or splitting.
It is written in the Hadith that on the revelation of these two chapters, the Holy Prophet Muhammad ( sas) became very happy and he forsook other prayers seeking Allah’s protection and adopted these instead.
This word has been used at two other places in the Quran.
