Omar al-Mukhtar was a Libyan who became a folk hero throughout the Arab world due to his fight against Italian colonialism.
It is unknown whether the Forces of Omar al-Mukhtar group is related to the National Revolutionary Command (Omar al-Mukhtar), although it’s markedly different targets, and the large time span between group activities, would clearly suggest otherwise.
However, a Palestinian group with Arab-Nationalist leanings has recently begun to use the name Forces of Omar al-Mukhtar in its attacks in Israel and the Occupied Territories.

The name Omar Mukhtar does not refer to any known person on the Palestinian scene that might lead to the identity of the group, unless it refers to someone who was killed in some terrorist activity.
However it is just as likely that the Forces of Omar Mukhtar will turn out to be a local autonomous group with no relations to any of the active known Palestinian terrorist groups.
According to the Jordanian daily Al-Dustur of 22 April 1998, a group named Forces of the Martyr Omar Al-Mukhtar claimed responsibility for an armed attack on 19 April1998 in which an Israeli was killed.
