Alan Dale (Born May 6, 1947, in Dunedin, New Zealand) is an actor best known for playing the part of Jim Robinson in the Australian soap opera, Neighbours, now well-known for his role on The O.C. as Caleb Nichol.
In the show's second season, Alan Dale was a regular cast member until his character suffered a heart attack (as did his Neighbours character Jim Robinson) and died.
Dale returned for a few episodes and the producers soon realised that the character had a lot of potential, particularly with his son-in-law Sandy (Peter Gallagher), and through the show's villainess Julie (Melinda Clarke).

Country Standard Time: Dale Watson, June 2004
His late father, Don, was a country singer, trucker and gas station owner, and Dale cut his teeth playing first with his brothers and then in his father's band as a teenager at a time when most other American teenagers were sneaking hits of reefer while listening to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
But as a Dale Watson album - that is, as an album of Watson playing a mixture of honky-tonk, Bakersfield Sound and Texas shuffles - it's the most representative album of his sound that he's recorded in probably four years.
Watson was photogenic and a more-than-capable singer, songwriter and guitarist whose "Nashville Rash" became an anthem for those who felt that the country music industry's successful grab for the brass ring had at the same time caused that industry to forget its roots.

ALAN DALE What We Do Best: American Movie Comedies of the 1990s
The Wedding Singer is a skit extended to the length of a romantic comedy, and though it holds together because Sandler doesn’t play the role for quick-fix effects, it is often a dismal experience.
Her role is unaccountably prim so that although she looks great (there’s a shot of her in a sea-foam green sweater in the morning sun when her skin looks like it’s made of light, not flesh) it’s a little safe and cute when she develops a crush on Sandler.
The problem with The Wedding Singer is that everything is pitched right at that place where the complacent, sitcom-loving, middle-class audience meets the complacent, ironic-if-irony’s-"in," younger segment of the same audience.
