Parsons and Woolfson began work almost immediately on their next Project, which was intended to be a similar literary-musical survey of the works of Isaac Asimov.
Though Parsons has said that he was too busy worrying about the music to dictate a cohesive theme to the songwriters, it nevertheless seemed to convey a message of taking a chance and doing or saying things that one might not do or say otherwise.
Parsons hastily got permission to do a remix of the album-opening title track featuring lines from the movie, and while The Time Machine benefitted from the cross-promotion, but flew under the radar of radio and retail when the US release was delayed until after the movie's initial burst of publicity.

As indicated by its name, the Alan Parsons Project was not a band so much as a concept overseen by the titular Parsons, a successful producer and engineer.
Parsons subsequently worked with Paul McCartney on several of Wings' earliest albums; he also oversaw recordings from Al Stewart, Cockney Rebel, and Pilot, but solidified his reputation by working on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.
With 1980's The Turn of a Friendly Card, a meditation on gambling, the Alan Parsons Project scored a Top 20 hit, "Games People Play"; 1982's Eye in the Sky was the Project's most successful effort, and notched a Top Three hit with its title track.

Ultimately, this does sound like Alan Parsons, and those who can accept the fact that he has opted to follow a different, and valid path will find a CD they won’t mind chilling out to.

For anyone who is a fan this collection sums up The Alan Parson's Projects work in a fashion that fits the name of the CD, it is definitive.
