Alandi (18°40′12″ N 73°54′00″ E) is a town on the banks of the Indrayani River, 25 km east of Pune, India.
Alandi is thus a place of pilgrimage and venerated by Hindu sects.
Alandi has become known as a place for mass-marriage ceremonies for impoverished eloped lovers and parents who would avoid expenses for a daughter's marriage.

PUNE, JULY 23: One week after the gruesome murder of a mother and her two children in Alandi, the Chakan police arrested two suspects from Lawale village in Mulshi taluka in Pune district in a night-long operation on Thursday.
The decomposed bodies of the victims, Jayashree Gawde (32) and her kids, Sunita (9) and Yogesh (8) were found on July 17 from their house near the Alandi Nakoda Bhairoba temple.
The police forced open the door after the neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the Gawde's house.

PUNE: A day after second-year students from the Maharashtra Academy of Engineering, Alandi staged a protest at the university of Pune against the unjust fee, the directorate of technical education issued a show-cause to the college, seeking explanation as to how can it charge higher fees than set by the Justice Jahagirdar committee.
While technical education director NB Pashalkar called on the college principal, joint director SK Mahajan confirmed to TNN that a notice has been served upon the college, returnable within a couple of days.

AMC's Chief Executive Officer Anil Jagtap and a clerk from his office Maruti Jadhav accepted bribe of Rs 5,000 from the chairman, according to a press communique issued here.
