Using money that she earned on the show, Morissette recorded an independent single, "Fate Stay With Me," which was released when she was ten.

Morissette's stripped-down set was recorded at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in mid-September, during which the Canadian songstress performed acoustic versions of such songs as "You Oughta Know," "Uninvited," and a cover of the Police's "King of Pain." The Alanis Morissette "Unplugged" is currently scheduled to be broadcast on MTV on November 1.
Morissette also plans to release an accompanying "Unplugged" album via Maverick Records on November 23, and a version of "That I Would Be Good" from the taping is tentatively set to be issued as a single in early November.
Ballard pushed Morissette to pursue darker, edgier themes in her music, venturing away from the cutesy teenager and toward the introspective young woman.

DVD.net : Music in High Places - Alanis Morissette Live in the Navajo Nation - DVD Review
The potential for pretension is high, but Morissette seems genuinely thrilled to have the chance to explore the land and culture, and finds much that she relates to.
A terrific, inventive collection of songs heavily influenced by Morissette’s exploratory time in India, it indicated that this was an artist in pursuit of deeper, more spiritual things.
The show’s producers made some astonishingly silly choices artist-wise, but Alanis was an exception; already quite renowned for her eagerness to explore other cultures, she took to her surroundings like a kid in a candy store.

March 04, 2005, 9:00 AM ET Melinda Newman, L.A. As she neared the 10th anniversary of her landmark album "Jagged Little Pill," Alanis Morissette began pondering how to commemorate the occasion.
Morissette estimates that she's acoustically worked up 75% of the songs from "Jagged Little Pill" over the years in concert, but she still looks forward to what she can bring to them now.
The collection, which will feature the songs in their original order, will include previously unreleased video footage from that era plus different artwork.

Pop star Alanis Morissette has distilled the "so-called chaos" of her personal life into a powerful new album -- her fourth studio release -- featuring 10 original songs that she co-produced with John Shanks and Tim Thorney.
As she did in her breakthrough 1990s hit, "You Oughta Know," Morissette tackles the travails of romantic relationships with snarling bluntness.
The collection blends pop, rock, folk, electronic and world beat and features a strong guitar sound and soaring vocals.

This third (live) album is a collection of the best songs from "Jagged Little Pill" and "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" plus three unreleased songs and "King of Pain" and "Uninvited" thrown in for a great value album.
Let's get one thing straight first - Alanis sounds fantastic live, and even though there's only three new songs, the live versions on this CD are so different you really are getting a brand new album.
In large measure that has to do with Morissette reigning in her vocal affectations while singing most of these songs, which benefit from being stripped down so that the personal lyrics are emphasized more.

Amazon.com: Jagged Little Pill: Music: Alanis Morissette
I've barely talked about the music itself from this album, and part of the reason why, I believe, is the fact that Jagged Little Pill is one of those rarest of albums, a collection of songs that transcends the music and speaks to the listener's mind and soul.
"Jagged Little Pill" and her next two albums, for me, are required music for any long trip down the highway at any given time.
In the end, Jagged Little Pill is not as angry an album as it might first appear.

Stefanie Sun,The Moment (Deluxe Version) (2CD+DVD),CD
What springs to my mind when the name Sun Yanzi is mentioned is an impressively strong voice reminiscent of Alanis Morissette or Avril Lavigne that is unique enough to have scored this Singaporean girl a firm seat on the singer/songwriter list in Taiwan.
Compared with Gigi Leung's usually mild and gentle rendition, that of Yanzi has an edge of sonority in her voice giving a refreshing note of optimism that hope is what we should always have in order to come across the special someone in our life.
A new discoverer of Sun Yan Zi's music, this collection was perfect for me. Having only heard several songs, I was most captured by Tian Hei Hei and decided to purchase one album.

Tower Records - The Prayer Cycle: Music For The Century - Jonathan Elias
A deeply spiritual and emotionally resonant album, THE PRAYER CYCLE is a collection of prayers sung in choral and solo voice by the likes of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Alanis Morissette, James Taylor, Perry Farrell, and Salif Keita, among others.
That THE PRAYER CYCLE was masterminded by film and television composer Jonathan Elias is almost as mystifying as the broad, incongruous, and wonderfully talented array of musical stars that perform on it.
Though Middle Eastern motifs dominate, it is difficult to pinpoint an exact geographical origin for this music, and the end result is a world music soup of profound implication.

Blogcritics.org: CD Review: Alanis Morissette - The Collection
But with songs like "Mercy", where Morissette attempts to pour the same emotions into the song as her previous works, it comes off somewhat disingenuous.
It would be interesting to hear this song played with actual indigenous instruments a la Peter Gabriel or perhaps Sarah McLachlan, with Morissette's towering vocal signature laid on top.
"Uninvited" is an okay song, but in its effort to tap a more Middle Eastern spiritual flavor, the heavy orchestral strings just make the song clunky.

 DMB Resurrects "Lillywhite Sessions" - Mar 14, 2002 - E! Online News
Initial reports said DMB wasn't keen on the gritty direction Lillywhite was taking; now, sources say the band simply wanted a change-up from its usual acoustic-based material and brought in Ballard (best known for his work with Alanis Morissette) to shape a more electric, polished sound.
Gone but hardly forgotten, the Lillywhite Sessions found a home on the Internet, where MP3s of the nixed album surfaced shortly after the band shelved the collection early last year.
The album is named for producer Steve Lillywhite, who supervised the material the group recorded in 2000.
