The Alaskan Independence Party formally selected two East Coast unknowns Saturday as the party's choice for U.S. presidential and vice presidential candidates.
The AIP, claiming 17,000 members statewide, nominated the Constitution Party's national chairman, James Clymer of Lancaster, Pa., for vice president.
Clymer said he agreed to be the stand-in candidate for vice president until the Constitution Party's national nominating convention in June, when Chuck Baldwin, a Pensacola, Fla., minister is expected to take his place.
