Siebert's potential as a defenseman was recognized early by Maroons coach Eddie Gerard, who occasionally use him there until putting together the S-Line of Siebert, Stewart and Hooley Smith in 1929-30.
Siebert remained in Boston until 1935-36, when he was selected to the First All-Star Team.
Following his third year in Montreal, it was announced that Siebert would take over as coach of the Canadiens in 1939-40, but he lost his life in a drowning accident on August 25, 1939.

Siebert was high on Kindall, and wanted him to get some experience against tough competition.
The team was composed almost entirely of freshman and sophomore players at the U of M. The team was shaky at the start of the season, but finished third in the standings, and then won the playoffs to earn a trip to the State Tournament in Chaska.
Babe Ruth was born in Baltimore, four years before my grandmother arrived, but the Bambino was probably just another name until the Redbirds left town and the Twins attracted her to major league baseball.

The season after that (1929-1930), the Bruins posted the best-ever regular season winning percentage in the NHL (an astonishing.875), but would lose to the Montreal Canadiens in the finals.

That was not Babe Ruth's fault, but you can also make the argument about watered down pitching that is all over the league these days.

On a pass from Babe Siebert, Russ had a weak shot which Hainsworth easily stopped, but failed to clean up on the rebound, and Oatman did miss his chance, tipping in the puck at 8 minutes and 20 seconds into overtime.
