Belle was, along with Frank Thomas, the dominant AL hitter of the 1990s.
I agree Belle was better in fl ink, but even when combined with his small edges in top 3 win shares and best 5 consecutive win shares, it's not by enough IMO to outweigh the large gray ink and career win share edges for Cepeda.

 ESPN.com: GEN - Belle's injury is a tragedy -- really
Albert Belle says it will take a miracle for him and his grandmother's hip to play baseball again, and it's hard not to feel for the guy.
Belle's comprehensively repellent personality ranks among the worst in modern baseball history, even if you allow for the fact personality is usually judged by the single question, "How did he treat me?" Personality judgments are dangerous because of that; a lot of smart, good people were adjudged otherwise because they failed the warm-and-fuzzy test.
But if Belle is speaking of miracles after showing remarkably little interest in the supernatural side of the business all these years, you can deduce safely that he sees his own glass as nearly empty, and quite spotted besides.

All of them ignore one small fact: that Albert Belle is perhaps the most misunderstood athlete of his generation.
I don’t much care whether Belle makes the Hall of Fame or not, but it would seem a shame to penalize one of baseball’s greatest players just because he’d rather go home after the game than submit himself to a bunch of stupid questions.

Then, of course, there is the intangible side of Belle, the moody and often temperamental ballplayer who probably was known as much for his infamous outbursts against fans and journalists as he was for his artistry and power with a bat.
He contends that Belle often was incorrectly portrayed by the media — most of whom were open in their hostility to him in return for his general refusal to talk with them — and never really understood by fans.
