Albert Ellis (born September 27, 1913) is an American cognitive-behavioral therapist who in 1955 developed Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, an approach to psychotherapy holding that inappropriate negative emotions arise not from events themselves, but rather from people's irrational interpretations of these events (the ABC - Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence - theory of emotions).
Ellis founded and recently functioned as the president emeritus of the New York City-based Albert Ellis Institute until its board removed him from all official functions in September 2005.
Ellis was born to a Jewish family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Campaign to Reinstate Dr Albert Ellis as President of the Albert Ellis Institute for Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy ...
Albert Ellis has called for support from all those people who care about justice; who oppose ageism, disability discrimination and elder abuse; and who may have been helped by him or his philosophy, REBT.
They have taken possession of the Albert Ellis Institute from Albert Ellis, and they are determined that he will not ever have any say in the running of the institute in the future: the institute that he founded, in the building that he bought!
If we are to see justice for Albert Ellis, then it will have to be imposed on the usurpers on the board by a massive public protest.
