 Albert Chapman Mineral Collection
Albert Chapman was born in Mackay, Queensland in 1912.
Albert's father was a sea captain and amateur naturalist, who often brought home natural history specimens such as sea shells and encouraged Albert to collect minerals.
Albert trained as a cabinet maker and carpenter, later establishing a building business in Sydney, however collecting and trading minerals was the 'hobby' that dominated his life.

On 25th the Logan River peaked at Dulbolla and Beaudesert and the Albert River peaked at Bromfleet and Lumeah.
Minor to moderate flooding occurred in the Mary River from 21st to 25th, the coastal streams from Brisbane to Noosa on 21st, the Bremer and Warrill creeks on 21st and 22nd and the Stanley River and upper Brisbane River from 21st to 23rd.
A renewed heavy rain period commenced in southeast Queensland on 25th causing major flooding to re-occur at Gympie on the Mary River, and in the upper Brisbane River, the Albert and Logan rivers to the south of Brisbane and other coastal streams between Maryborough and the New South Wales border.

QUEENSLAND, Australia (CNN) -- Two fishermen were missing after heavy rain in the Gulf of Carpentaria caused widespread flooding.
The Queensland government declared a state of disaster as ex-Tropical Cyclone May flooded large areas in the region around Normanton in Queensland's Gulf country, 1,000 miles northwest of the state capital of Brisbane.
Many rivers in the Gulf country already had passed major flood levels, and there were reports that two boats had gone down in what was described as the worst conditions in more than 20 years.

Burketown --> Burketown sits on the Albert River and on the east-west dividing line between the wetlands to the north and the beginning of the savannah grass plains (Plains of Promise) to the south, some 25 kilometres from the coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Stuart travelled from Adelaide, while Landsborough journeyed with camel from Albert River in Queensland, but failed to record the arrival due to their great excitement.
