Alberti was born in Venice and studied music with Antonio Lotti.
Today, Alberti is seen as a very minor composer, and none of his works are played or recorded with any regularity, but Alberti bass was used by many later composers, and became an important element in much keyboard music of the Classical music era.

 Op.14
Even though the bass line progresses towards an F tonality in bar 20, as the c minor was anticipated in bar 4, the D and F# in the bass of bar 20 confirm the anticipation of C, which is emphasized by the solo part's leap from G to Eb (bar 20-21).
Paradoxically, the bass line here (22-25) more strongly confirms the arrival to C, than the bass line in bar 6-9, even though the solo part suggests that the phrase is going to cadence a fifth higher, in G.
As with the D minor opening of the piece, the bass line again is descending, apparently through a row of non-functional thirds (with the exception of the A, E and G in end of bar 27, resolving to a D in the following bar), and then down to a German sixth chord at 30.

[smt-list] Re: K.284 (was: looking for sources)
I believe this is also true with the case of Alberti bass fifths.
That all these examples are root position chords suggest that the bass is the overwhelmingly significant tone in all of these, with the inner voices (particularly the fifth of chords) functioning as embellishments and not true inner voices.
For Mozart, it seems either that the Alberti figure was enough to dispell the effect of true parallel fifths, or that the context was such that one would not hear the fifth of the chord locked in step with the bass.

it ios a repeated pattern.i am not entirely sure but i think alberti bass is more liberal in the fact that it is not specifically subjected to the three notes of anyone chord, where as broken chords would be.
an alberti bass can be used with any chords but of course they have to be in harmony with the piece they are acccompanying- and harmony is a whole other branch!

 Chords in Musical Practice
In chorale style, there are two common arrangements of the chord tones: open (or SATB choral voicing), where the notes are arranged evenly between the top and bottom notes, making it easy for each voice to sing their part.
The second common arrangement is close (or keyboard voicing) where the top three notes are all within one octave, making it easy to play on keyboard instruments with the upper three notes played in the right hand and the bass line with the left.
One popular manner of arpeggiating the chord alternates between chord tones in the pattern of "bottom - top - middle - top" and is commonly refered to as an Alberti Bass.

ALBERTI   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-08-19)
1710-1740), Italian musician, is known in musical history as the writer of dozens of sonatas in which the melody is supported from beginning to end by an extremely familiar formula of arpeggio accompaniment, consequently known as the Alberti bass.
He thus shows how advanced was the decay ofpolyphonic sensibility (as a negative preparation for the advent of the sonata-style) already during the lifetime of Bach.
His works have no other special qualities, though it is probable that Mozart's first violin sonatas, written at the age of seven, were modelled on Alberti in spite of their superior cleverness.
