		Alcan mines bauxite (aluminium ore) and makes and recycles aluminium sheets, foil, wire and cable, and parts for doors, windows and auto parts.
		Alcan is based in Montreal, Quebec and had revenues of US$25 billion and 70,000 employees worldwide in 2004.
		Alcan is also one of the common names for the Alaska Highway that connects Dawson Creek, British Columbia, with Fairbanks, Alaska.

		ISAL, an Alcan smelter operating in Iceland since 1969, is one of several companies that assumed a lead role as a founding member of SKIL 21, a project based on the recycling of organic waste for use on eroded land.
		Alcan is the first large industrial operation in British Columbia (B.C.), Canada, to inaugurate a Pollution Prevention (P2) Plan endorsed by a local public advisory committee and the provincial government.
