Aldershot Towntalk - All about Aldershot
The area around Aldershot was thought to be particularly suitable for this; it lay in a good position; there were large areas of infertile heathland ideal for training troop concentrations; and the owners of the land were willing to sell.
This road (and the area around Aldershot) was considered to be quite dangerous, since it was a regular haunt of highwaymen and was the scene of many highway robberies.
Aldershot was once part of the ancient Crondall Hundred, which covered 30,000 acres of land in North East Hampshire.

 Aldershot - Local area information
In the early nineteenth century the village of Aldershot was described as "A parish three and a half miles north-east by north of Farnham, acres 4070, population 875".
Aldershot has a Railway Station, service from Waterloo, Guildford and Farnham and Alton.
The growth of the town of Aldershot was determined by the establishment of the Aldershot military camp and more than half of its 4176 acres are owned by the Ministry of Defence.

 Basingstoke's Railway History in Maps
On subsequent maps, stations are marked by blobs on the lines, and when these stations first appear on the maps, letters are used in conjunction with a key beneath each map to indicate the name of each station.
A mural on the station calls it Winchfield and Hartley Row, which I suspect to be a mistake, as the Hampshire Chronicle report of the first train to Basingstoke calls this station Winchfield and Shapley Row.
At the time it was built, it served no settlement of note, and although it was nominally for passengers bound for Andover, it is a good ten miles from that town.

Transit Toronto - Content: Toronto's Union Station
To accommodate this increase in the number of streetcars using the station, a major renovation of the streetcar loop is planned, possibly in conjunction with the second platform renovations for the subway station.
Three years after the railway (known as the Northern Railway after 1858; the line was eventually extended to Barrie and Meaford) built its line to Aurora, the Grand Trunk arrived and built lines to the east and the west, each served by separate stations.
Toronto's current Union Station is actually the city's third such station, and only one of a multitude of railway stations which were built between Parliament and Bathurst Streets along Toronto's waterfront.

Medstead and Four Marks Station on Mid-Hants Railway ("The Watercress Line")
Volunteers of the latter-day Mid-Hants Railway (the "Watercress Line") began to rebuild the station from its derelict state in 1980.
Close to the summit, Medstead station was opened in August 1868 to serve the village of that name, 1½ miles to the north.
Opened in 1865, the railway climbs from the valley of the River Wey at Alton to a summit over 600 ft above sea level in a deep cutting at Chawton End, Four Marks, and then falls to the valley of the River Arle (a tributary of the Itchen) at Alresford.
