A decree in chancery was obtained, 19 Elizabeth, by William Blackwall, of Steeple, county Derby, gent.
In consequence of which decree, the lords of this manor are not entitled to heriots, nor more than one year's improved rent on admittance of a customary tenant by descent or purchase.
Upon which this question was raised, Whether the lands first held by Lowe, of the manor of Alderwasley by knights' service, were, after the grant of the manor to Lowe, to be held by him of the king in capite by knights' service, or by fealty.

Alice HURT (1837-1894) was one of 15 children of Francis HURT (1803-1861) and Cicilia Emely, living at Alderwasley Hall.
Alderwasley Hall was the family home of the HURT family from being inherited in 1690 to 1929 when it was sold.
In 1861 the Parsonage was occupied by the incumbent of Alderwasley Alexander ORME and his wife, both from Ireland, with two sisters from Elton as servants.
