BBC NEWS VOTE 2001 RESULTS & CONSTITUENCIES Aldridge-Brownhills
Aldridge and Brownhills are two distinct towns on the edge of the West Midlands conurbation.
There have been some major investments in the seat in recent years including major technology companies and industrial parks, although the split between Aldridge and Brownhills persists even here, partially because of the exclusion of the latter from the Black Country Regeneration Area.
Aldridge was always more middle class and has expanded through the development of private housing.

Guardian Unlimited Politics Special Reports Howard faces plot by Tory Eurosceptics
Richard Shepherd, the strongly Eurosceptic Tory MP for Aldridge Brownhills, said last night that he was reserving judgment until the results were declared but had seen evidence of a breakthrough for Ukip in his own constituency.
However, even that would be double their 1999 score, and the early omens are alarming for Howard.
The party had finished a strong second to the Tories in three out of six wards at the local elections, he said.

 Parle in Medieval England
Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, West Bromwich, Wednesbury, Aldridge, Brownhills, Harborne, Handsworth and goodness knows how many other places which objected violently at the time became part of a new local government area known as the West Midlands in 1972.
Aldridge ought to be in Staffordshire, Birmingham ought to be in Warwickshire, etc. as they were for centuries.) Therefore a 1966 Encyclopedia Britannica would state that Birmingham was in Warwickshire because this was printed prior to the boundary changes.
It came under siege in the Civil Wars and you can still see the canon ball that made a hole in the banister of the main staircase.
