Topic: Ale Yarok

Ale Yarok - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ale Yarok (עלה ירוק, "Green Leaf") is an ultra-liberal political party in Israel.
Ale Yarok is known as a party that supports privatization of public companies and opposes corrupt and monopolistic trade unions.
(In 2003, however, Ale Yarok was the party that came closest to passing the threshold.) After failing to make it into the Knesset in the 2003 elections, the chairman of Ale Yarok Boaz Wachtel announced that he was giving up the leadership of the party, but didn't implement his declaration.

One of the main platforms of the party is a "Green Economy": According to Ale Yarok, the cannabis market in Israel has an annual turnover of NIS 10 million.
Ale Yarok supports civil marriages and the recognition of all branches of Judaism, while opposing the funneling of large sums to religious establishments.

Q.co.za ::News: Anti-establishement vote to propel cannabis party into Israeli parliament
EL AVIV — As the campaign for the Israeli legislative elections bogs down in security issues, the Ale Yarok party's pot-leaf is emerging as a symbol of a growing trend towards small protest parties and is preparing its entry into parliament.
Ale Yarok denies being a single-issue party and is attracting many young voters among the secular left-wing and green electorates by advocating sustainable environmental policies, defending gay rights or adhering to the anti-globalisation movement.
Mainstream parties have tried to stigmatise Ale Yarok as a movement of drug-users, but their progressive and pragmatic platform is earning them growing support, and polls predict the "marijuana party" will sit in the next Knesset.

Ale Yarok (עלה ירוק), the Green Leaf party, started out as a one issue political party dedicated to the legalization of marijuana in Israel.
Ale Yarok is back for the current election campaign and clearly some Israelis feel it's high time there was Green Leaf in the Knesset.
With the threshold to gain entry into parliament now raised to 2% and polls showing Ale Yarok falling just short the party engaged in a new ad campaign to attract voters with the theme "We have other aspirations".

When asked how a former police officer feels about supporting a party that promotes the legalization of drugs, Guttman said he felt "great," adding that today the reality is different, and that the police and the IDF have also revised their attitude toward marijuana users in recent years.
Responding to this unexpected show of support, Ale Yarok Chairman Boaz Wachtel said that in many states, the police are the ones spearheading the demand for a reform in the drug policy.
"We in Ale Yarok are happy with attorney Guttman's support and hope he is the harbinger of a beginning of an understanding in the Israeli governmental system regarding the importance of reform that will be lead by Ale Yarok, in this field, as well as in others," Wachtel stated.

If light drugs were allowed to adults, the situation would not stay like that for a long time.
When we get something we always want more especially when we are talking about drugs, which are addictive.

With a proportional representation system that guarantees a seat in the Israeli Knesset if a party reaches 2% of the votes cast, Green Leaf (Ale Yarok in Hebrew) leader Boaz Wachtel has the best chance to be the first Marijuana Party candidate ever elected to a federal government body in the world.
Green Leaf is polling 6-8% of young people under 34, but those aged 18-34 don’t often vote in Israel despite the fact that all Israeli young people are conscripted into the army for at least 12 months when they are 18 to 21 years of age.
