Upon arriving at Salyut 6, Kovalyonok and Ivanchenkov switched on the station’s air regenerators and thermal regulation system, and activated the water recycling system to reprocess water left aboard by the Tamyrs.
Onboard temperature was 20 °C, and air pressure was 750 mmHg (100 kPa).
Soon after this, Kovalyonok and Ivanchenkov performed maintenance on the station’s airlock, installed equipment they brought with them in Soyuz 29’s orbital module, and tested the station’s Kaskad orientation system.

Vladimir Aleksandrovich Dzhanibekov has made two space flights - in January 1978 as the commander of the Soyuz-27 spacecraft and of the first crew to visit the Salyut-6 station and in March 1981 as the commander of the Soyuz-39 spacecraft which delivered to the Salyut-6 station the international Soviet-Mongolian crew.
Aleksandr Sergeyevich lvanchenkov was born on 28th September 1940 in the town of Ivanteyevka in Moscow Oblast.
