Alexei Kasatonov (Алексей Викторович Касатонов; born October 14, 1959 in Leningrad, USSR) is an ice hockey defenseman, a long-time member of the Soviet Union national team.
On the international stage, Kasatonov won two golds (1984, 1988) and one silver (1980) in the Olympics, and five golds (1981, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1989) in the World Championships.
Kasatonov was accused by his teammates on spying on them; when he and Fetisov became teammates again, at the New Jersey Devils, the two ex-best friends would not speak.

"A first strike strategy," reform-mined military analyst Aleksei G. Arbatov commented at the time in Nezavisimaya Gazeta, "presupposes the unleashing of nuclear war." All this happened when Russian-American relations were at their best.
In 1994, the Russian navy began retrofitting its Typhoons to house the new SS-N-24/26 ballistic missile.
Kasatonov was unequivocal: "Our priority is the new generation of more accurate strategic nuclear missiles of the kind which can be launched from submarines."

In addition, Admiral Kuroyedov’s recent pronouncements that the Northern Fleet flagship, Peter the Great, "may blow up at any moment" ignited alarm not only over the impending danger, but the reality that the comments are part and parcel of Kuroyedov’s controversial style of defaming and marginalizing any potential successors to the Fleet Admiralship.
