Alessandro Marcello, born 1684 and died in 1750, all I have on him is that he produced about twelve solos for violin and several concertos, if anyone can throw any more light on this composer please email me.
Benedetto Marcello, born on 1686, he wrote some fine examples of all the main genres, both vocal and instrumental, among them a large number of concertos.
Marcello is best remembered by his Estro poetico-armonica (Venice, 1724 - 1727), a musical setting for voices and strings of the first fifty Psalms, as paraphrased in Italian by G.Giustiniani, Charles Avison and John Garth brought out an edition with English words (London, 1757).

Antonio Maria Bononcini; Benedetto Marcello; Antonio Lotti; Giuseppe Tartini;
Marcello did not publish many works but his "Oboe Concerto in D-mol" was his best known composition probably because it was transcribed by J.S. Bach for the keyboard.
The compositions themselves demonstrate that Marcello was an artisan with fine musical abilities but he would stretch the limits of modulations and harmonic progressions beyond the conventions of the time.

 Alessandro Marcello | Oboista.it

 MusicaBona | CD | Alessandro Marcello: Oboe Concerto in D minor
A younger contemporary of Antonio Vivaldi, Marcello held concerts at his hometown of Venice.
His La Cetra concertos are "unusual for their wind solo parts, concision and use of counterpoint within a broadly Vivaldian style," according to Grove, "placing them as a last outpost of the classic Venetian Baroque concerto." A concerto Marcello wrote in D minor for oboe, strings and basso continuo is perhaps his best-known work.
Alessandro's brother was Benedetto Marcello, also a composer.

These Cetra Violin Concerti (the oboe is also given prominence to a degree that, to me, they could also be called "Oboe Concertos") by Allessandro Marcello as played by Collegium Musicum 90 and directed by Simon Standage on solo violin are very beautiful and elegant baroque concertos.

Combining a feathery piano touch with a swinging rhythm section, Loussier reveals the affinity between the two worlds.
Loussier reworks pieces by Scarlatti, Marcello, Albinoni, and three by Handel (including the lengthy Concerto in F major for Organ), more concerned with subtly outlining harmonic contours than exhibiting the ornamentation usually associated with baroque music.
This approach produces tasteful and elegant French jazz, ideal for the cosy club or the luxury liner lounge.
