Alex Harvey (February 5, 1935 - February 4, 1982) was a Scottish rock and roll performer.
Alex Harvey was literally the "last of the teenage idols," a distinction he made much of during his subsequent career - practically worshipped by his fans.
In 1972, Harvey formed the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, composed of himself, guitarist Zal Cleminson, bassist Chris Glen, and cousins Ted and Hugh McKenna on drums and keyboards respectively.

lex Harvey was born February 5, 1935, in Glasgow, growing up in the hardscrabble projects of that industrial Scottish city.After leaving school at 15, as the story goes, he tackled as many as 36 different professions, including lion tamer, before turning to music.
After returning to Britain, Harvey retained his modestly successful position in the burgeoning rock and blues club scene, although failing to gain the bigger breaks of such contemporaries as the Yardbirds or the Bluesbreakers.
Harvey's folkie career was shortlived, however, as evidenced by his next single release -- a rollicking cover of Edwin Starr's "Agent Double-O Soul".

In 1977, Harvey and the band recorded separately, SAHB without Alex (as it was billed) issuing Fourplay, while the leader made Alex Harvey Presents the Loch Ness Monster.
The crowd was rather cool to start with and Alex thought the gig was a dud, but at the end the place went bonkers and, much to the band's surprise, they got yelled out for two encores and had to be turned off by the authorities.

That guy is Alex Harvey, and this, his first biography (I’m pretty sure) goes some way to explaining why that affection remains.
A great live band, with Harvey a born entertainer and brilliant interpreter of other artist’s songs (listen to ‘Next’, and his ‘Delilah’ pisses all over that Welsh muppet’s) they never hit big in the record sales.
Alright, the author claims Harvey as a punk, but every biography author whose subject is pre-76 does the same, so we’ll forgive him.

It's among the rarest of Harvey's albums, and as a little-heard link in his evolution it deserves reissue, in spite of its inconsistency.
