		Alex had promoted the Isle of Man strongly since his family move to the island in 2001, earning him the Isle of Man Young Sportsman of the Year award, and there was much talk of backing from the small but steeped-in-motorsport British Island for the following year.
		Alex and his fiancée Sam, hardly ever seen apart outside the car, were referred to as the “Posh and Becks”; of the paddock, and the media flocked around them.

		Alex Lloyd, the 20-year-old BRDC McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award winner, has been offered a two-day test in America in a Toyota Atlantic Car with top team Jensen Motorsport on the 19th and 20th of December.
		Lloyd started his career in karts at the age of nine, and progressed into cars at the age of 15 with a year in Formula Ford and then UK Formula Renault for two years, finishing as Vice-Champion.
		Following this, in December 2003, Lloyd was shortlisted down to one of only six drivers to take part in a shoot-out to win one of the most prestigious awards available in the motorsport world, the BRDC McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award.

		You could say Alex Lloyd is like a pot of Ronseal - he does exactly what it says on the tin - and very well too.
		A bit like Bruce Springsteen, Lloyd is at his best when he's rocking out and this is exactly what he does on the opening track, the brilliantly crafted Hello The End.
		This is by far the heaviest produced album so far in Lloyd's short career, and if anything it has been over-produced, as the edge has been taken off of his unique voice.

		Influences from the Beatles' great guitar work and Lennon's solo career vocals in particular are ubiquitous throughout 'This is a Call', at times way down in the mix some oddly effected tracks give it a "psychedelic" feel without intervening in the Alex Lloyd sound.
		A less than professional sounding chorus has been included on 'Light is On', which actually does sound perfect in its imperfection, apart from being buried in a sea of instruments and Alex.
		The album closes with the country ditty entitled 'America', a track that rips off white America's own sound and uses it to uhh… describe the country.

		I will also point out that Alex is given credit for playing several instruments on several of the tracks, including vocals, guitar, keys, and bass.
