Munter was courted to run provincially or to challenge for the mayoralty against Bob Chiarelli in 2003, but instead took a hiatus from electoral politics.
Munter was the co-ordinator for Canadians for Equal Marriage, a group that campaigned successfully in favour of legislation to enshrine same-sex marriage in Canada.

Susan, I think your opinions about Alex Munter are misguided and misinformed, his work of which I have listed some here speak to his commitment to Ottawa's citizens, particularly the most vulnerable, the homeless and social housing.
Also recognize that his ward is Kanata, not a hot bed of social change, yet this is his 4th term, demonstrating that he is able to effectively mediate interests between citizens of all social and economic classes, not an easy thing to do.
Alex seems to be concerned mostly > with appearances and he certainly has accepted the status quo.

Having a background in economics, Alex seemed to quickly grasp the idea that a 'usuryfree' time currency would be mutually beneficial for all who would participate.
I encourage Alex Cullen and Rainer Bloess - the first Ottawa Councillor to recognize that 'usuryfree' time currencies have a place in local communities - to form a committee to study the issue further.
