One of the eight delegates born outside of the thirteen colonies, Davie was born in Egremont, Cumberlandshire, England, on June 20, 1756.
Davie's law studies in Salisbury, NC, were interrupted by military service, but he won his license to practice before county courts in 1779 and in the superior courts in 1780.
Davie was 64 years old when he died on November 29, 1820, at "Tivoli," and he was buried in the Old Waxhaw Presbyterian Churchyard in northern Lancaster County.

  Alexander Edmund Batson Davie - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Davie, (Wells November 24, 1847 – August 1, 1889 Victoria, British Columbia) was a British Columbia politician and lawyer, and was premier of British Columbia from 1887 until his death.
Davie was first elected to the provincial legislature in 1875 and began as a supporter of the government of George Anthony Walkem but soon joined the Opposition.
Alexander Edmund Batson Davie is interred in the Ross Bay Cemetery in Victoria, British Columbia.

 Davie Families in Chapel of Garioch
The name Davie is a diminutive of David, and the Davie family is said to be a sept of the Clan Davidson, itself originally a part of the Clan Chattan.
There are several references to Davies around Leslie, Kennethmont and Old Rayne in the 17th century, but there is no evidence to connect them with the families living in Chapel of Garioch at the end of the 18th century.
In Durno were Alexander Davie and his wife Margaret Farquhar, whose children William (?), Deborah and Margaret were born between 1790 and 1795, and Peter Davie, married to Isobel Christie, whose children Jane (?) and Mary were baptized in 1794 and 1795, and Anne in 1806.

Alexander transcribed two additional copies from memory, one of which came into the possession of his friend General William R. Davie.
This copy known to historians as the "Davie Copy" contained many verbal errors, and was mistakenly written by the old man in the past tense form, rather than the present, and omitted the sixth resolution.
Disclaimers of the Declaration use the Davie copy, which was admittedly flawed, to prove their allegations that the "Mecklenburg Declaration," was fraudulent.
