Alexander Kuoppala (born April 11 1974) was the rhythm guitarist from the band Children of Bodom from 1995 to 2003.
Alexander was the person that replied to most of Children of Bodom's fanmail in the band's early years.
The separation happened in a non-hostile manner, and Alexander's reasons were that the lifestyle of a band was not working for him anymore, and he also wanted to spend more time with his girlfriend and build a family life.

We really try not to make a big deal out of this, and since it`s not our place to talk about Alexander`s personal affairs, we have to be brief about this.

When Alexander Kuoppala left Children of Bodom in the year of 2003 in the middle of their world tour, the members of the band were forced to search for a new guitarist in the time span of one month, when their next show would happen.
The new guitarist needed to be able to learn about twenty songs to be played live.
With little time left, he contacted Roope, the only guitarist he deemed skilled enough to manage the feat of learning the songs with enough accuracy to replace Alexander, who had been playing with the band for 10 years.

Alexander Kuoppala, is definitly one of the best guitarists I've heard.
But as for solos, new age bands aren't exactly into that as much as the oldies were (Led Zeppelin, metallica etc.) but COB is definitly a band to go with if you like solos.

The rest of the band definitely keeps up with Raatikainen's machine-gun delivery.
Guitarists Laiho and Alexander Kuoppala also deserve credit for the thick-sounding rhythms and quick lead playing.
As long as these activities aren't technically enhanced, the band deserves credit for the physical accomplishment, but it all doesn't quite add up artistically, at least not to the standard of other Children of Bodom releases.
