  Russian Ice Hockey: Sad news-Alexander Ragulin died.
Ragulin (born on May 5, 1941) was a defenseman on the dominant Soviet teams of the 60s and 70s and won 10 IIHF World Championship gold medals in the 12 championships in which he played between 1961 and 1973.
Ragulin, who wore number 5 on his jersey for most of his career, was inducted to the IIHF Hall of Fame in 1997, the same year as the Hall of Fame of the International Ice Hockey Federation was founded.
Ragulin was part of a juggernaut put together by Anatoly Tarasov, the head coach of the Soviet national team who for 24 years had groomed almost all the great players in the first generation of Soviet hockey.
