Alexander Steen and Brady Murray may wear different jerseys at the 2004 IIHF World U20 Championship, but they have more in common than perhaps any two players at the tournament: Famous fathers, a multi-national background and a friendship that started in Winnipeg.
Steen and Murray did not keep in touch once they were in separate countries, but their lives were taking the same path, despite the distance.
Steen was making a name for himself as a teenager in Sweden, while Murray was a standout in Canada and the United States—especially with the Minnesota prep school Shattuck St. Mary's where he was reunited with Patrick Eaves.
