 Alexander Travis Hawthorn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hawthorn was not reelected after 6th Arkansas was reorganized and he was reassigned to the Trans-Mississippi Department and returned to Arkansas.
Hawthorn participated in the Arkansas portion of the Red River Campaign and commanded his brigade at the Battle of Jenkins' Ferry under General Thomas James Churchill.
Hawthorn died in Dallas, Texas on 31 May 1899 and is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas.

Alexander Travis Hawthorn was born near Evergreen, in Conecuh County, Alabama, January 10, 1825, and was educated at Evergreen Academy and Mercer University in that state.
Hawthorn was not re-elected, and was reassigned to Arkansas in the Department of the Trans-Mississippi.
Six years later General Hawthorn entered the Baptist ministry and was ordained, after which he lived in Texas until his death, on May 31, 1899, in Dallas.

Alexander Travis, pastor of the Murder Creek Baptist Church (@1818), later renamed the Belleville Baptist Church.
Mark Travis was later an officer of the Conecuh Militia, and then later served as an officer in the Confederacy.
We feel certain that he is somehow related to the Mark Travis and John Travis that appear on census of Conecuh.

The company was sworn into service by Colonel Alexander Travis Hawthorn at Hamburg on November 4, 1863, for a period of one year.
