		Located in the foothills of Australia's Great Dividing Range, the township of Alexandra is nestled in a beautiful valley at the meeting of the Yea and Goulburn Rivers.
		Access to Alexandra can be from the southern corridor or from the west after exiting the Hume Freeway.
		Alexandra is also a gateway to Lake Eildon and its National Park as well as a popular stop over and rest stop location for year-round visitors who in winter are heading into the snow fields.

		In 1912 the Rubicon Lumber and Tramway Company completed a 610mm gauge steel railed tramway bridging the 22 kilometre gap between Rubicon and Alexandra.
		The industry remained little changed until all but one of the eight mills in the forest was destroyed in the devastating 1939 bushfires.
