Park keepers were initially not keen on thousands of visitors tramping over their lawns, the Head Keeper at Philips describing them as "low elements", and in 1859 sixty cast iron "Keep off the Grass" signs were purchased - keepers were issued with caps, badges and whistles, and enforced the rule strictly.
A prominent fixture in the park, and somewhat of a local mystery, is the huge boulder (weighing in at 13 tons), which was uncovered during excavations by a building contractor on the local estate and was presented to the park as an object of curiosity.
Crumpsall Park is located on Ash Tree Road in Crumpsall in a densely populated area and is a focal point for the community on land that was once earmarked as a cemetery, before the idea was abandoned in favour of parkland.

Manchester's first elevated restaurant is to be operated at Urbis (the Museum of the Modern City) for the next 3 years by Urban Experience Limited, who have successfully operated The Charles Hallé Restaurant at the Bridgewater Hall for the last six years.
The restaurant will be on the 5th and 6th floors of the striking new glass building, on the corner of Cathedral Gardens (see map) in the Millennium Quarter.It will include a 35 metre high view of Manchester's new Exchange Square and the city beyond, unavailable from any other location.
Considerable time and effort has been put into creating the menu and the wine list, as these needed to part of the whole experience and as memorable as the restaurant setting itself.

There has been some outcry at the prices of the new rooms in Alexandra Park, and whilst in comparison to previous rates for the old Lonsdale and Cartmel colleges the rent has increased, this is in line with inflation and with the improved quality and facilities.

but the Alanxandra Park estate is perhaps one of the roughest parts of Manchester.
If not in the estate and is in the whalley range area it won't be too bad, but the nearest town will be Chorlton and thats a good 10 minutes away by bus.
Wellington Road isn't as bad as the area I original thought you were talking about, but its still not the nicest part of Manchester although certainly not the worst.

I don't mean to scare you here, but the Alanxandra Park estate is perhaps one of the roughest parts of Manchester.
Alaxandra Park is in Moss Side and Whalley Range.
If you want some where quiet then places like Chorlton and Didsbury are more ideal, however they are cheap, average rent tends to be £60-£70 a week in decent houses as the houses in those areas cost £200,000 upwards.
