Vinokourov, who rides in the colors of his Central Asian country and with the support of its government, was thrown out of the Tour along with his Astana team Tuesday after he tested positive for a banned blood transfusion.
Vinokourov told French sports daily L'Equipe he was innocent of doping, and that he was the victim of a "provocation."
Vinokourov was one of the pre-race favorites at this year's Tour, but fell out of contention after damaging both knees in a crash during the first week of the race.

Alexander Vinokourov, also written Alexandre Vinokourov, (born 16 September 1973 in Petropavlovsk, Soviet Union, now Petropavl, Kazakhstan) is a Kazakh (ethnic Russian) professional road bicycle racer.
In 2004 he was one of the main favorites for the Tour de France, but a few weeks before the start he broke his shoulder in the Tour de Suisse, and was forced to miss the Tour de France.
The 2005 season has shown Vinokourov's excellent form in his win of the oldest of the classics Liège-Bastogne-Liège, a stage in the Dauphiné Libéré atop the mythical Mont Ventoux, and the Kazakh National Road Race Championships.

The unflappable Alexandre Vinokourov recovered from a demoralizing ride the day before and attacked early and often in yesterday's 11th stage of the Tour de France, an Alpine marathon that included about 40 miles of climbing over three peaks, culminating with the famous 8,678-foot Col du Galibier.
Vinokourov, riding mostly in the company of Colombian Santiago Botero of the Phonak team, had a three-minute lead on a group of top riders, including overall leader Lance Armstrong, as he crested the Galibier.
Vinokourov also maintained that he has not been tabbed as the German T-Mobile team's leader even after Jan Ullrich's meltdown on the climb to Courchevel in the previous stage.
