In 1938 Alfa tried to run the car projected by Enzo Ferrari, the Alfa Romeo 158 Alfetta, but had several problems: during the French Grand Prix Nuvolari's car had the fuel tank broken and he was badly hurted and said that wouldn't race for Alfa Romeo again.
Alfa signed with John Gentry for review the car and create the 185T, but he also left the team and went to Renault, so Mario Tolentino became the technical director and finished the 185Ts.

With fuel consumption rates of around 1.6 miles per gallon the Alfa team were forced to become very proficient at rapid pit stops in order to keep their drivers running at the front.
The car continued in service until Alfa Romeo's withdrawal from the sport at the end of 1951 and despite the emergence of Ferrari towards the end of the season it remained competitive to the point of winning the final race of the year at Pedralbes in Spain.

I think the proportions are fantastic I just dont like the way its doesnt look special anymore.
I really hate being negative with alfas but this one doesnt do it for me.
althoug being a completely new car, this new 157 or 158 doesn't look nothing more than a restyling.
