Alfa Romeo Arna - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Alfa Romeo Arna was a subcompact hatchback automobile produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo between 1983 and 1986.
The Arna was essentially a twin of the N12 series Nissan Pulsar (also known as the Cherry Europe in Europe and the Pulsar Milano in Japan), but featured Alfa Romeo engines carried over from the Alfasud, as well as Alfa drivetrain and front suspension.
The gap in the Alfa range was effectively filled by the slightly larger Alfa Romeo 33 which had been launched at the same time as the Arna.

In the mid-sixties Alfa Romeo relocated the race tuning company Autodelta to Settimo Milanese in order to focus factory support and become the official racing arm of Alfa Romeo.
Success was almost a pre-requisite and the Alfa Romeos fended off an early challenge from Alpine-Renault and Porsche to dominantly romp home with seven victories from the eight races entered, taking the World Manufactures Championship and the Drivers’ crown en-route.
As indicated by Alfa Romeo author and expert, Sergio Puttini, the 1974 results are as follows.

 Alfa Romeo 33 History
At the beginning of the '70s Alfa Romeo was thinking to design a medium-sized FWD car, quite a revolution for the Alfisti.
This last one was a very interesting model since it had the 1351cc IE boxer engine with a 33 16V QV body (spoilers, body kit, seats and alloy rims).
For these reasons Alfa Romeo decided to use the new Twin Spark 16V engines instead and so the glorious and very reliable boxer engine was abandoned.

The Alfa 33 is not one of the most loved Alfas, even though it was Alfa's biggest selling car ever (980,000 sold over ten years, CAR (UK), July 1995, p.
The worst features of the 33 (ergonomics, gearshift, build quality, no torque) are shared with the 'Sud, it handles nearly as well, alas doesn't brake or steer as well, but it is more practical, easier to live with and (importantly for me) easier to maintain.
Autotech Alfa installed a dyno in early 1997, and the local chapter of the Alfa Romeo Owners' club turned up one evening in February 1997 for a group Italian Tune-Up to christen same.

History of the Alfa Romeo 145
Although in my opinion the line-engine with double overhead camshafts is as typical Alfa as the boxer is (the concept straight-four with double camshafts was already used in 1954 and even earlier I thought!) a great and beautifull part of Alfa's history is closed here.
Halfway 2001 the 2.0 twin spark can be delivered with a manual transmission and Alfa Romeo's renewed JTD (115bph and 275nm torque) found its way to the 147.
Also is the new Alfa Romeo 147 Cup version introduced in Holland in April 2002.
