San Giorgio al Velabro - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pope Zachary (741-752), who was of Greek origin, moved the relic of St. George to this basilica from Cappadocia, so that this saint had a basilica dedicated in the West well before the spreading of his worship with the return of the Crusaders from the East.
The Ministry of Cultural Heritage researched and catalogued what was damaged or destroyed, placing the fragments in 1050 crates with dates and locational references before restoring the building with them, although some details, particularly in the portico, were deliberately left unrestored as a memorial to the bombing.

Cardinal Stickler, after agreeing to be "an instrument of transmission" of a letter to the Pope requesting the consecration of Russia, doubted whether the Pope would consecrate Russia since he lacks the support of his bishops.
Cardinal Stickler said, "They do not obey him!" The Cardinal added that it is not just the American bishops but bishops of the entire world who do not obey the Bishop of Rome.
We are much indebted to Cardinals Stickler and Ratzinger for their individual acknowledgements that Our Lady of Fatima's specific request to a Pope and all the bishops remains unfulfilled.

 East 2 West - Celibacy
Cardinal Stickler argues that this written law must presuppose a previous practice.[13] Because of the early date of Elvira, he infers that absolute marital continence must have been required by the early Church.
Nonetheless, Cardinal Stickler believes this canon to be an “innovation.”[43] In his view it established a new discipline, which became normative for the East.
As he concludes the book, Cardinal Stickler raises a fundamental question: “…we must ask ourselves if the basis of celibacy is to be actually found in its ‘suitability.’ Rather, is it not in fact really necessary and indispensable to the priesthood?”[65] He undoubtedly desires for us to answer in the affirmative.

Very encouraging reports on the progress of the Fraternity of St. Peter and the Institute of Christ the King provided a second encouragement to a federation which believes that it is defending not only a living, perennial tradition, but also precisely the liveliest elements in the contemporary Church.
A third aid to a vision of revival was the splendid Sunday Solemn High Mass celebrated by a priest from Gricigliano at the Church of Gesù e Maria on the Via del Corso, and accompanied by the music of the Una Voce Rome choir and organist.

The aim was to highlight the essence of the proposed dogma, how it is grounded in ordinary infallible Catholic teaching, and why sooner is better than later to define it.
Ironically, Vox Populi Mariae Mediatrici was largely unknown until the appearance of the Theological Commission's bad review.

Also present were cardinals Jorge Arturo Medina Estevez of Chile, Alfons Maria Stickler of Austria, Armand Gaetan Razafindratandra of Madagascar, and William Baum, an American cardinal who lives in Rome.
Though it was the first time this Pope had allowed the old Mass to be celebrated in a major Roman basilica, it is unclear if the celebration will spark any movement toward a reconciliation between Rome and the followers of the late French Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre.
