Duff Cooper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alfred Duff Cooper, 1st Viscount Norwich (February 22, 1890 - January 1, 1954), known universally as Duff Cooper, was a British diplomat, Cabinet member and acclaimed author.
When Duff Cooper took the Norwich title, his wife refused to be called Lady Norwich, claiming that it sounded too much like "porridge," and promptly took out a newspaper advertisement declaring that she would retain her previous style of Lady Diana Cooper.
Duff Cooper himself was the subject of a biography by John Charmley, and a major British literary award, the Duff Cooper Prize, was established in his name.

Alfred Heaton Cooper began studying art in 1884, during a period when Western European art was undergoing one of its most active periods of change and challenge.
Impressed by the Barbizon group, and taught in London by George Clausen, Alfred was to develop a style which managed to absorb and amalgamate the powerful artistic influences of his age, and which matured into a coherent and original style of his own.
