	What is Algaecide?
		Algaecide is a chemical treatment for swimming pools, fish ponds and other 'water features' that kills algae.
		When you use an algaecide in your swimming pool, it allows you to use less chlorine for water purification, resulting in water than is more pleasant to swim in, without the stinging eyes and nose that too much chlorine can cause.
		Regular use of algaecide also prolongs the life of your water filtration systems, as there is less plant material to clog the filters and intakes of your pump.

		I was told that using diluted pool algaecide helps with algae growth.
		Renee, the stuff I've seen sold as swimming pool algaecide was roughly "half-strength" of what Physan 20 is. Physan 20 is 10% quaternary ammonium choride while the swimming pool stuff was 5%, it also had a dark blue dye in it which might stain stuff you use it on.
		I might add that the swimming pool algaecide is not labeled for use on orchids or as a pesticide, like Physan 20 is, so I cannot legally recommend its use as such.
