The Algorism: Advanced Political Math -- 01/14/2000
This algorism has been repeated often in an effort to solve the problem of needing to be perceived as one who's sensitive to people's illnesses and unafraid of large corporate interests.
The farm economy is a prime illustration for demonstrating the versatility of the algorism.
Algorisms of this nature should be avoided at all costs because it's widely known that the steam engine was invented by the vice president.

A detailed description of the estimation algorism is presented in Annex I. With the probit specification at hand, Tobit estimation can be outlined easily with respect to the matrix model in equation (3) and the algorism in (4) (Annex I).
In fact, the algorism for Tobit estimation of the supply decision has a very similar structure to the algorism for probit estimation of the participation decision, as described in Annex I. In fact, only two changes are required in the notation applied in (4).
A detailed description of the estimation algorism for the Tobit model is presented in Annex I. Finally, with the probit and Tobit algorisms at hand, it seems natural to discuss a third specification which relies on the idea that the participation and sales decisions, although they may depend on different covariates, are intimately related.

 Decimal Arithmetic - FAQ 2
Algorism is the name for the Indo-Arabic decimal system of writing and working with numbers, in which symbols (the ten digits 0 through 9) are used to describe values using a place value system, where each symbol has ten times the weight of the one to its right.
Arabian mathematicians made many contributions (including the concept of the decimal fractions as an extension of the notation), and the written European form of the digits is derived from the ghubar (sand-table or dust-table) numerals used in north-west Africa and Spain.
The word algorism comes from the Arabic al-Kowarizmi (“the one from Kowarizm”), the cognomen (nickname) of an early-9th-century mathematician, possibly from what is now Khiva in western Uzbekistan.

There is an amazing amount of effort expended on algorism in schools with very little result, and it falls almost completely under the despised classification of rote learning.
Algorism is a rather late development, not widespread in Europe until the 16th or 17th century, and hardly known elsewhere in the world.
The traditional and universal method of computing among the general public was to use movable counters that represented certain values, and actually to add or subtract counters representing the numbers under consideration.

Algorism is popular only with those who do no calculations, like elementary school teachers.

The eddy current flaw-testing signal (ECT signal) is different depending on the depth, length, width and shape of the flaw so that the optimization technique, which optimizes flaw shape minimizes the difference between ECT signal and flaw signal calculated by FEM, is proposed.
In the flaw shape estimation using GA, it is necessary to calculate the flaw signal of each shape, so that there is a problem of long computational times to calculate the flaw signal.
The authors have conducted fundamental study of the flaw shape estimation form ECT signal using GA. In this paper, the proposed technique for calculating the flaw signal by superposing ECT signal is also discussed.

 Algorithm and Emptiness
Due to confusion with word forms such as Platonism, algorism came to signify the practice of doing arithmetic with Arabic numerals.
Advocates of the new system were called “algorists” as opposed to the “abacists” who continued to reckon with the abacus inherited from the Romans.
Using “algorism” one could easily perform complex step-by-step procedures (such as long division), which are awkward or impossible on the abacus.
