Rabbit Fire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rabbit Fire is a 1951 Merrie Melodies cartoon starring Bugs Bunny, directed by Chuck Jones and written by Michael Maltese.
Produced by Edward Selzer for Warner Bros. Cartoons, Inc., the short was released to theaters on May 15, 1951 by Warner Bros. Pictures and is widely considered among Jones' best and most important films.
The short starts out like many Bugs Bunny cartoons do: Elmer Fudd follows a trail of "wabbit twacks" left by a rabbit he presumes to be Bugs Bunny.

And each of those founding fathers of Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes characters had their own distinctive styles and influence on the character.
The sci-fi futurism that was coolly mocked in the '50s cartoons ironically culminated in the new electronic format of the Bugs Bunny TV show in 1960, and the last of the original theatrical shorts rolled off the line in 1964.
Coleridge also takes issue with the common notion that the Bugs Bunny cartoons were chiefly attributable to the anti-fascist mentality of the '40s.

After a prior season characterized by such sloppiness as the same cartoon, "My Bunny Lies Over the Sea", being shown two weeks in a row, order seemed to be restored to the series, and with it an apparent tendency to package episodes with similarities in themes, motifs, or plot elements among the constituent cartoons.
Someone is guarding territory in three of the cartoons in this episode: the Sheriff of Nottingham in "Rabbit Hood" oversees the King's Carrot Patch; Hassan the Arab stands guard at the entrance to the cave in "Ali Baba Bunny"; and the cantankerous desk clerk is a pet-banning sentinel at the hotel in "Room and Bird".
In "Bunny Hugged" and "Bad Ol' Putty Tat", Bugs and Tweety respectively become reluctant participants in a sport, wrestling in the former and badminton in the latter.

During the 1970s and '80s, he was among the Looney Tunes stars to appear in prime-time TV specials, and in 1996, they all co-starred with Michael Jordan in Space Jam.

I am absolutely obsess with Bugs Bunny ever since I grew up, I've been watching it during the morning with my father when I was younger.
The byline "the Oscar-winning rabbit" was first used on The Bugs Bunny Show in 1960, and it was carried over into The Bugs Bunny-Road Runner Hour in 1968 throughout its run (up to 1984, where the show's titles and themes were changed).

There's a Cold War reference in the scenes between Daffy Duck (Duck Dodgers), and Marvin the Martian, as both claim Planet X in their respective planet's names, and finally, launch the ultimate weapon against each other, which causes the planet to blow up, leaving only enough of the planet for one person to stand on.
One of the most classic segments here is "Duck Amuck," where Daffy has to face a mysterious cartoonist adversary who changes the scenery on him, paints him in garish colors, and makes his life miserable.
It was very appropriate to the retired Bugs Bunny, but a little sad too.

All the WB cartoon directors were running out of ideas at the time, yet Jones' cartoons seemed unusually obvious in their attempts to milk jokes for every ounce of comedy; there was so much pausing, eye-rolling and lip-quivering that every gag seemed to take twice as long as it should.
In "Ali Baba Bunny" (1957) Jones had a character split a hair on Daffy Duck's head with a sword.

Bugs and Daffy are familiar in the roles of rivals; indeed, Daffy has acted as Bugs's sometime enemy, as in the "Rabbit Season" trilogy of cartoons quoted at Back in Action's beginning.
But some of the classic cartoons, like Chuck Jones's Ali Baba Bunny and The Abominable Snow Rabbit, pair Bugs and Daffy as a team going on adventures together (even if they were really heading to Pismo Beach but failed to take that left turn at Albuquerque).
Dante and his writers seem to be building on this "buddy movie" motif in these Jones shorts, and I think the real strength of the movie lies in its treatment of Bugs and Daffy as a team.
